About The Position

The position is responsible and accountable for managing activities related to business and operations processes and systems utilized by the Functional Unit. This position may include oversight of the relationship with vendors within the Functional Unit, leading the creation of the annual plan and objectives in collaboration with senior leaders and responsible to oversee successful execution and delivery and/or ensuring Functional Unit is inspection ready at all times and that procedures, training and inspection readiness activities are being actively supported and managed across Functional Unit.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree required; MS degree preferred
  • Minimum 7 years of relevant work experience required
  • At least 5 years of pharmaceutical industry experience and good understanding of responsibilities and processes in clinical operations or data science
  • Portfolio planning, forecasting, and budgeting skills and experience
  • Quality, compliance and/or inspection/audit experience
  • Familiarity with PM methodology preferred

Nice To Haves

  • Must have prior experience with clinical development and/or the services associated with supporting clinical trials
  • Prior experience with vendor management relationships

Responsibilities

  • Contributes to and supports Functional Unit outsourcing strategy that is pragmatic, optimized to portfolio needs and takes into account vendor performance/business risk, the vendor landscape and Astellas future strategic direction.
  • Responsible to ensure compliance with vendor management and oversight processes and procedures and proposes future process improvement opportunities.
  • Analyzes budgeted to actual costs with vendors and proposes operational efficiencies to lead to cost reductions.
  • Serves as subject matter expert between Astellas functions and the vendors to address questions mainly regarding resources, processes and procedures, systems, training, and quality.
  • Coordinates outsourcing activities from the concept, to planning, to transitioning activities to the vendor(s) through to steady state for multiple functional areas.
  • Implements metrics and key performance indicators for vendor and study teams to ensure optimal performance and identify opportunities for improvement.
