As the US Eye Clinical Ophthalmic Technician Trainer, you will play a pivotal role in designing and implementing training programs for ophthalmic technicians within our organization. Primary responsibilities will be to develop comprehensive training curricula, conduct train-the-trainer sessions, and provide ongoing support to ensure technicians possess the skills and knowledge necessary to excel in their roles.

  • Ability to follow instructions, work well with others and alone with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to document reports and work orders in both a technical and easy to understand manner.
  • Demonstrated ability to do excessive walking, standing, bending, and stooping.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand, sit, use hands to handle or feel objects, tools or control, reach with hands and arms and talk or hear.
  • The employee is occasionally required to climb or balance, kneel and crouch.
  • Demonstrated manual dexterity sufficient to operate basic office equipment.
  • The employee may be required to lift moderately heavy objects (50-90 pounds).
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.
  • Two or more years of diverse clinical ophthalmic experience, working collaboratively with physicians.
  • Ability to function at a senior technician level.
  • Strong leadership, writing, and problem-solving skills.

  • Ability to be supportive and encourage growth.
  • Ability to handle conflict resolution and hold staff accountable.
  • Ability to maintain strict confidentiality.
  • NextGen EMR experience
  • Experience in employee development and evaluation.
  • Ability to organize and maintain thorough records.
  • Knowledge of HIPAA

Nice To Haves

  • Certification as a COT preferred.
  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • 5+ years of experience working in a senior technician role.
  • COA or COT certified.

Responsibilities

  • Program Development : Collaborate with subject matter experts and stakeholders to assess training needs and develop tailored curricula for ophthalmic technicians.
  • Design engaging and interactive training materials, including presentations, manuals, and multimedia content, to effectively convey key concepts and techniques.
  • Train-the-Trainer Sessions : Lead train-the-trainer sessions to equip internal trainers with the knowledge, tools, and techniques necessary to deliver training programs effectively.
  • Provide guidance on instructional methods, facilitation techniques, and best practices for engaging adult learners at various levels of experience.
  • Training Delivery: Deliver training sessions to ophthalmic technicians, both in-person and virtually, ensuring content is delivered effectively and training objectives are met.
  • Adapt training delivery methods to accommodate diverse learning styles and technical competencies.
  • Skill Advancement: Offer ongoing support and mentorship to technicians, helping them enhance their skills and knowledge through continuous learning opportunities and development.
  • Identify areas of improvement and develop advanced training to address evolving needs and industry advancement.
  • Provide training plans for those technicians pursuing their IJACHPO certification(s).
  • Evaluation and Feedback: Establish evaluation criteria to assess the effectiveness of training programs and gather feedback from participants and stakeholders.
  • Use feedback and performance data to refine training materials and delivery methods, ensuring continuous improvement.
  • Work in conjunction with the technician’s manager to relay progress and make recommendations.
