About The Position

The Department of Biomedical Sciences and Pathobiology at the Virginia-Maryland College of Veterinary Medicine invites applications for a clinical-track faculty position in anatomic pathology, with the rank of assistant or associate professor. The candidate will join a team of eight board-certified anatomic pathologists. Duties will include providing diagnostic pathology service (including surgical biopsy and necropsy duty) for Virginia Tech Animal Laboratory Services (ViTALS) and histopathology service for the Virginia Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services Animal Health Laboratory Services. The role also involves teaching in the DVM professional program, training pathology residents, which includes teaching in graduate-level pathology courses and participating in histopathology rounds, and engaging in independent or collaborative research. Virginia Tech Animal Laboratory Services (ViTALS) is an AAVLD-accredited diagnostic laboratory whose clients include the Veterinary Teaching Hospital and veterinary clinics in the surrounding region. Evidence of a research and publication track record is encouraged, ideally in a research focus area of the college which includes infectious diseases, inflammatory/regulatory disorders (including cancer), translational/regenerative medicine, and epidemiology/disease investigation. There will be opportunities to develop independent and collaborative research programs within and outside the College of Veterinary Medicine, including at various life sciences-oriented institutes.

  • ACVP/ECVP board eligible
