About The Position

This full-time position provides Spanish and English counseling services to victims of abuse/trauma and their non-offending family members, working out of Denton and Lewisville and possibly Bridgeport offices.

Requirements

  • Graduate degree in Counseling or Social Work.
  • Required: Texas LPC/LMFT/LCSW License; Associate or LMSW license will be considered
  • 2 years professional experience in services for abused children preferred
  • Thorough knowledge of child sexual/physical abuse dynamics
  • Play, adolescent, family, & group therapy experience
  • Knowledge of psychological assessment administration and interpretation
  • Knowledge of Trauma treatment modalities

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in court testimony preferred
  • Knowledge of law enforcement, CPS, District Attorney a plus
  • Knowledge of Children’s Advocacy Centers, CPS/law enforcement/DA organizations

Responsibilities

  • Provide direct client services to child victims of sexual and serious physical abuse & their families.
  • Provide individual, play, group, filial, and/or family therapy.
  • Conduct basic diagnostic assessments.
  • Provide crisis intervention to clients.
  • Assist victims in securing mental health & social services from the community.
  • Assist victims in moving from investigative assessment into the therapeutic setting.
  • Provide court support to clients.
  • Maintain proper documentation in CAC electronic health record/client files.
  • Be available to work 2 evenings per week.
  • Work out of Denton and Lewisville and Bridgeport offices.
  • Provide translation support to team members
  • Work as a member of an interagency multidisciplinary team.
  • Participate in weekly case review meetings.
  • Provide feedback during initial interview process regarding victim’s therapeutic needs.
  • Provide on-going feedback to team regarding victim’s progress/emotional state.
  • Provide training to team and community on child abuse detection, prevention, and treatment as assigned.
  • Provide consultation and/or training to the team regarding culturally appropriate issues.
  • Maintain Standards of BHEC Licensing Board.
  • Participate in all supervision guidelines required by licensing Board.
  • Maintain all minimum professional liability insurance.
  • Maintain all ethical guidelines set forth by BHEC licensing Board.
  • Assist with general Center operations as needed.
  • Participate in community and special events.
  • Other duties as assigned
