About The Position

This position provides direct services to assigned clients with major mental illness and a substance abuse diagnosis.  These services are provided to assist in resolving or minimizing the effects of a client's impairment through a wide range of skills, including assessment, monitoring, crisis intervention, education, linking and training in community resources, assistance in daily living skills, and obtaining necessary services for meeting basic human needs and entitlements.  This position participates in a treatment team and maintains professional record keeping.

Requirements

  • Requires a bachelor’s degree in behavioral science or nursing.
  • Must possess a minimum of one year working with individuals with mental illness and a substance abuse problem.
  • Requires licensure in Ohio as LCDC II/ III.
  • If working in prevention you must have OCPS certification or documented alcohol and other drug prevention experience or must apply to become a registered applicant within 30 days of the effective date of hiring

Nice To Haves

  • Dual licensure in mental health is preferred (LSW LPC, LISW or LPCC).  

Responsibilities

  • Provides prevention services in accordance with State mandates and established agency and program policies, procedures, philosophy and client individualized service plan. 
  • Utilizes prevention knowledge and skills to employ the following strategies: 
  • Provides direct mental health services if licensed appropriately and SUD services to an assigned caseload of clients in accordance with the State mandates and established Agency and program policies, procedures, philosophy and the clients Individualized Treatment Plan. 
  • Documents and records prevention services according to policy. 
  • Participates in Team Meetings, supervision, in-service training and conferences according to established policies and procedures, Ohio MHAS requirements and rules in order to keep abreast of agency procedures, upgrade personal knowledge, improve teamwork and service coordination. 
  • Coordinates with program staff concerning client goals/progress. 
  • Attends and contributes to team during Team Meetings. 
  • Attends and participates in supervision according to the established supervision plan and regulations set by the Ohio Counselor and Social Worker Board, the Ohio MHAS, and OCDPB. 
  • Accesses, demonstrates knowledge of and follows Unison's Policy Manual, Departmental Procedures Manuals, and Employee Handbook. 
  • Demonstrates progress toward meeting requirements for Unison’s General Competency Program. 
  • Meets agency expectations for clinical employees.  
  • Must establish and maintain effective working relationships. 
  • Must be able to work with ill, disabled, emotionally upset and at times hostile individuals. 
  • If working in prevention services must demonstrate knowledge and skills of prevention populations and strategies.  
  • Must demonstrate individual and group counseling skills, knowledge of mental illness and substance abuse, and ability to use current DSM for diagnostic functions within clinician scope. 
  • Must be able to work a schedule that may include evenings. 
  • Must demonstrate the ability to define problems, analyze data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions and make recommendations.   
  • Must demonstrate personal integrity, the ability to develop and work as part of a team, and a commitment to the mission of the agency.
