J54 is one of seven Cardiovascular Intensive Care Units (CVICU) that specialize in heart and lung transplants, extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO), coronary artery bypass surgeries, valve repairs or replacements, and many more medical procedures. A caregiver in this position works 7a-7:30p or 11:00am-11:30pm. Weekend and holiday rotation is required. A caregiver who excels in this role will: Provide or assist with patient care under the supervision of an RN, such as taking vital signs and weight, assisting patients with personal care, point of care testing, dressing changes, applying external monitoring devices and removing urinary Foley catheters. Report abnormal findings or changes in physical, 3mental and emotional conditions to an RN. Assist with keeping patients' rooms clean and orderly.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) upon or within new hire period
  • One year of recent, full-time patient care experience OR nursing student who has completed at least one clinical rotation as part of an accredited nursing school program OR military experience as a Hospital Corpsman (HM), Combat Medic (68W) or Medical Service Technician (4N0X1)

Responsibilities

  • Provide or assist with patient care under the supervision of an RN, such as taking vital signs and weight, assisting patients with personal care, point of care testing, dressing changes, applying external monitoring devices and removing urinary Foley catheters.
  • Report abnormal findings or changes in physical, mental and emotional conditions to an RN.
