The Progressive Care Unit (PCU) is a 24-bed unit that is part of critical care and includes cross-training with the Intensive Care Unit (ICU). It cares for patients with higher acuity than those on a medical-surgical unit, but who do not require the intensive level of care provided in the ICU. As a Clinical Technician, you will assist with basic patient care, maintain room cleanliness and demonstrate empathy and compassion in all activities and interactions. Requirements

High School Diploma/GED
Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) upon or within new hire period
Proficiency in applied mathematics & reading comprehension at an 8th grade level
Competencies in both the professional, technical and clinical knowledge domains must be demonstrated in a safe, effective and efficient manner.
One year of recent, full-time patient care experience OR nursing student with at least one completed clinical rotation as part of an accredited Nursing School Program OR military experience as a Hospital Corpsman (HM), Combat Medic (68W) or Medical Service Technician (4N0X1) OR additional education/training (e.g., mental health)

Responsibilities

Provide or assist with patient care under the supervision of an RN, such as taking vital signs and weight, assisting patients with personal care, point of care testing, dressing changes, patient transfers/transport, applying external monitoring devices, further technical skills of phlebotomy, 12-lead ECG’s and removing urinary Foley Catheters.
Report abnormal findings or changes in physical, mental and emotional conditions to an RN.
Assist with keeping patients’ rooms clean and orderly.
