Changing Lives.® The University of Iowa Health Care Department of Nursing is seeking a Clinical Technician to perform specific tasks to assist members of the Nursing team in providing patient care under the direct supervision of Registered Nurses.

Requirements

  • One year of health care experience involving direct patient care

Responsibilities

  • Assists with patient admission, transfer and discharge
  • Completes baseline admission data on patient arrival
  • Observes patient for changes in physical condition
  • Demonstrates competency in the performance of technical skills, providing appropriate care with regard to patient's condition and age
  • Maintains a safe environment for patients and follows standard precautions
  • Complies with unit, departmental, and hospital policies/standards
  • Participates in unit based Quality Management programs
  • Implements emergency care procedure in actual and practice situations
  • Documents information obtained during tests/procedures
  • Works as a team member and supports cohesiveness of unit personnel
  • Performs special duties as identified in unit or divisional policy under direction of the charge nurse
  • Preserves patient privacy and confidentiality
  • Contributes to the learning experience of students/new staff
  • Supports and contributes to the education of patients and families
  • Follows appropriate organizational channels
  • Participates in unit and division staff meetings and in services
  • Demonstrates responsibility in the care and utilization of complex equipment
  • Performs other projects and tasks as assigned
  • Incorporates the principles of Service Leadership to ensure positive patient/customer relations
