About The Position

The Clinical System Specialist Informatics provides leadership, consultation, and direction for information technology that impacts clinical and nursing information management. This role serves as a bridge between clinical practice, technology, and information management to enhance patient care. The specialist will be assigned as the lead for particular EHR applications or service lines, providing coordination amongst various IT, EHR support, and practice teams. This is a limited tenure position with end dates ranging from March 2028 to March 2030.

Responsibilities

  • Assessment of comprehensive data to derive the problem as defined by the clinical situation using evidenced based practice and structured analysis techniques
  • Includes appropriate prioritization and escalation as needed
  • Involves the key stakeholders in formulating an appropriate action plan and identifies expected outcomes based on the assessment and issue
  • Applies evidence-based practices in collaboration with IT and practice leadership in developing comprehensive solutions to attain expected outcomes
  • Ensures appropriate business continuity planning in place and provides support for EHR outages
  • Implementing the plan in partnership with the healthcare team members in a timely manner, utilizing evidenced-based interventions specific to the situation
  • Employs change management techniques to support the clinical end user with the transition and adoption of information technologies
  • Plays a key role to the development and testing of new applications, or enhancements to existing applications
  • Evaluates the use and usability of the product from the viewpoint of the end user
  • Leading the evaluation of system usage in the work environment to support workflow and to inform system design
  • Collaborates with multidisciplinary teams to ensure the goals of the practice are achieved
  • Facilitates the use of data to evaluate outcomes
  • Partnering with providers in the EHR build program or service area leadership to improve practice outcomes and streamline request processes through technology optimization and innovation efforts
  • Participation in organizational shared decision-making situations, including formal governance committees, that improve informatics practice, clinical practice, organizational performance and outcomes
  • Participation in key enterprise practice committees to guide technology discussions
  • Sharing knowledge and skills with staff in formal and informal settings
  • Regularly leading collaboration meetings for assigned application/service area with appropriate informatics, IT leads, and EHR support staff
