About The Position

Under the general direction of the Manager, Procurement Services, or approved designee, and in accordance with established protocols and procedures, the Clinical Support Technician (CST) will perform a variety of duties donor case supply preparation and kitting, supply chain management, and the decontamination and sterilization of instrumentation and equipment.

This individual must work in accordance with local, state, and industry standards to ensure safety and quality of materials and organs/tissues. Position requires weekend shifts.

Requirements

• Ability to define problems and resolve them quickly while managing and prioritizing deadlines.
• General computer knowledge and input skills; ability to utilize basic math functions.
• Knowledge of and ability to use a personal computer and all Microsoft office applications.
• Ability to pay attention to detail and take direction to work both independently and collaboratively.

Nice To Haves

• Some college work preferred.
• 1-2 years of supply chain and/or Decontamination and Sterilization experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Participate in a minimum of three (3) 12-hour shifts per pay week.
• Ensures daily stocking and rotation of supply storage areas with all necessary supplies for various IL departments and purposes.
• Organizes and assembles materials for use in donor cases for organ and tissue recoveries.
• Uses 5S principles for general housekeeping, maintenance and organization of the loading dock, warehouse, and other inventory areas.
• Performs decontamination of surgical instruments, Organ Trays, Bone Trays, CV Trays, Amalgatomes and other instrumentation using hand washing and an automated washing machine.
• Assembles instrument trays ensuring that instrument counts and serial numbers are correct.
• Sterilizes, releases, and stocks all recovery instruments, materials, and equipment through the use of autoclaves on a daily basis.
• Performs routine cleaning of the medical waste area, decontamination room, sterilization room, hallways, carts, coolers and disposes of bio-hazard trash per guidelines and regulations. Cleaning may include sinks, tables, pass-throughs, floors, work surfaces, ultrasonic machine, basins, racks, etc.
• Performs supply management though the barcoding of materials, quality checks of lot numbers, labeling, expiration date monitoring/disposal and the routine stocking/rotation of designated supply areas.
• Utilizes an electronic inventory system for supply management including functions actions such as kit creation, supply consumption/return & supply transfer and reconciliation for inventory compliance.
• Conducts reconciliation of materials for electronic inventory compliance.
• Ensures bio-hazard trash is disposed of daily in proper containers per guidelines and regulations and assists with the cleaning and maintenance of the medical waste area.
• Participates in the disposal and documentation of organs and tissues waste for discard.
• Maintains a high level of quality control and compliance in all aspects of Decontamination & Sterilization.
• Trains new Clinical Support Techs to perform all functions of the role and serve as primary preceptor. Meets all documentation requirements in the role of the preceptor in conjunction with the Education Department.
• At the discretion of the Manager of Procurement Services, team members will be assigned ownership and direct oversight of an operational area(s) including but not limited to, Supply Kits, Temperature Monitoring, Asset Management, Maintenance Scheduling, etc.
• Other duties as assigned.
