About The Position

The Clinical Support Coordinator supports high quality, patient-centered care by autonomously directing, and providing feedback, guidance, and mentoring to new graduate nurses and/or nurses that are transitioning to a new specialty. He/she supports multiple units and provides direction, accountability and education on the hospital's standard of nursing practice, policies, and procedures to ensure compliance with all accrediting and regulatory agency requirements.

Requirements

  • Active and current California Registered Nurse license required.
  • Bachelors Degree in Nursing required.
  • MSN preferred.
  • Minimum 3 years of acute care relevant nursing work experience required.
  • Strong PCU, Telemetry, or Med Surg background required.
  • Minimum 1 year of leadership/preceptor experience highly preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Perform rounds on each nursing unit, continuously observing, evaluating, assessing the quality of patient care, and identifying nursing educational needs.
  • Address and escalate concerns about nursing skills, patient care, policies, processes, and equipment as appropriate.
  • Provide feedback and mentoring on patient assessments and care planning.
  • Track requests to identify most commonly requested skills for purposes of enhancing orientation & education.
  • Promote evidence-based best practices that enhance the patient experience, including SAFETY rounding, communication fundamentals/AIDET, Teach-Back, Narrating Care, etc.
  • Direct and ensure nurses within scope of support have a clear understanding of how to integrate patient experience behaviors into quality, safety, and nursing practice.
  • Serve as a mentor and direct support for nursing colleagues.
  • Demonstrate excellent communication skills, including active listening to ensure patients, physicians, and colleagues have a clear understanding of all communications.
