About The Position

The Resource Nurse supports high quality, patient-centered care by offering feedback, guidance, and mentoring to new graduate nurses and/or nurses that are transitioning to a new specialty. The Resource Nurse supports multiple units. The Resource Nurse provides guidance and education on the hospital's standard of nursing practice, policies, and procedures to ensure compliance with all accrediting and regulatory agency requirements.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Nursing required
  • 2+ years of experience as an RN required
  • 1+ years of experience as a preceptor preferred
  • American Red Cross or American Heart Association Basic Life Support Course (BLS or BCLS) and Certification (available after hire).
  • American Red Cross or American Heart Association Advanced Cardiac Life Support Course (ACLS) and Certification (available after hire).
  • Preceptor Training Certification required within 90 days of hire
  • National Institute of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS) required within 30 days of hire
  • Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI) required within 90 days of hire
  • Behavioral Emergency Response Training (BERT) required within 90 days of hire
  • American Red Cross or American Heart Association Pediatric Advanced Life Support Course (PALS) and Certification. Must obtain NRP certification within 12 months from date of hire and then be maintained.
  • Current Neonatal Resuscitation (NRP) certification preferred. Must obtain NRP certification within 12 months from date of hire and then be maintained.

Nice To Haves

  • Master's Degree in Nursing or related field preferred
  • 1+ years of experience in a leadership role preferred

Responsibilities

  • Performs rounds on each nursing unit.
  • Observes and assesses the quality of patient care being delivered.
  • Identify nursing educational needs.
  • Escalate concerns about nursing skills, patient care, policies, processes, and equipment as appropriate.
  • Ensure that nurses within scope of support have a clear understanding of how to integrate patient experience into nursing practice.
