About The Position

The Clinical Support Assistant Float Pool position at WellSpan Medical Group in Chambersburg, PA, is a full-time role requiring 40 hours weekly, Monday through Friday, with occasional evenings and weekends. The successful candidate will be placed at any practice in the West Region where there is a need for Clinical Support Assistants. This role involves significant interaction with clinical and clerical staff, physicians, Advanced Practice Providers, patients, and families, necessitating strong interpersonal and customer service skills to promote a caring and healing environment.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Less than 1 year of relevant experience required.

Nice To Haves

• Basic Life Support certification upon hire preferred.
• Certified Nurse Aide certification upon hire preferred.

Responsibilities

• Obtains and documents reason for visit and patient vital signs, including temperature, blood pressure, pulse, respirations, pulse oximetry, height, and weight.
• Prepares patients for visits and/or procedures by ensuring they are undressed and appropriately gowned.
• Assists providers with examinations and can serve as a chaperone for personal exams.
• Performs Point-of-Care (POC) testing, including blood glucose, hemoccult, and specific gravity testing, and maintains related records.
• Collects specimens as directed using appropriate equipment for handling specimens.
• Performs EKGs and communicates results to providers.
• Enters POC lab results into the patient's chart.
• Assists with safely transporting patients via wheelchair when necessary.
• Ensures all patient care areas are stocked with unexpired supplies and notifies supervisor when reorder points are reached.
• Adheres to HIPAA regulations.
• Maintains a visible presence in the clinical area between tasks.
• Provides outstanding service to all customers and fosters teamwork.
