About The Position

This position involves the clinical supervision of a small number of professional and non professional staff in a behavioral healthcare setting. The employee is responsible to develop, implement and coordinate therapeutic services in a rehabilitation program, in accordance with legal and regulatory requirements. Work involves the supervision of professional staff that counsel and assist individuals and families with serious behavioral healthcare problems. The employee ensures that client needs, program goals, and contract objectives are effectively achieved. Work may involve some direct care services that include client assessment, individual and group counseling and applying various therapeutic interventions. The employee exercises considerable professional initiative and judgment. Work is under the general review of an administrative superior, leaving considerable latitude for independent judgment and discretion in accordance with agency policies.

Requirements

  • Some knowledge of the requirements of state and federal law pertaining to the behavioral healthcare program.
  • Considerable knowledge of principles and practices of treatment in the rehabilitation of clients.
  • Considerable knowledge of individual behavior and group dynamics and intervention strategies.
  • Working knowledge of crisis intervention theory and practice and the ability to make decisions and direct staff in crisis situations.
  • Some knowledge of community resources used in the provision of services.
  • Some knowledge of basic supervisory principles and techniques.
  • Skill in clinical assessment, problem solving and decision making including crisis.
  • Skill in identifying and resolving managerial problems such as work assignments, employee relations, employment development, and morale.
  • Ability to read, comprehend, and speak in the English language.
  • Ability to work harmoniously with employees, applicants, recipients, other agencies, and the general public.
  • Ability to plan, assign, coordinate and evaluate the work of a limited number of professional and non professional staff and to instruct them in work performance.
  • Ability to act decisively when necessary to protect clients and assist with clients.
  • Ability to handle confidential information appropriately.
  • Ability to recognize potential ethical problems and address in ethical manner.
  • Ability to express ideas clearly and to interpret lass and regulations.

  • Must have a Masters in Social work, Psychology, mental health counseling or a closely related field.
  • Must successfully pass a background screening in accordance with 9 CSR 10-5.190
  • Possesses a valid driver’s license and is, and remains insurable, under Family Guidance Center automobile liability insurance.

Nice To Haves

  • Prefer one (1) year of professional experience in mental health services, social services, counseling services, or related area.

Responsibilities

  • Implements and coordinates clinical services in an assigned treatment program of small scope; monitors services to ensure that professional standards are maintained and services are delivered in accordance with legal and certification requirements, and agency policies.
  • Supervises clinical services that may involve client diagnosis, prognosis, treatment/habilitation, and admission-discharge planning.
  • Supervises subordinate professional and non professional staff through both direct observation in the office and in the community, and review of paper and other records; establishes work schedules; sets standards of performance for subordinates; evaluates work performance; handles complaints and grievances; conducts staff training programs; and assists less experienced staff.
  • Develops, conducts, and monitors highly specialized treatment interventions for specific target populations; provides support to staff and clients in crisis or problem cases.
  • May perform client assessments to determine needed services; develop treatment plans; conduct meetings and review with the client, family and designated service providers; and prepares updates as necessary, by using collaborative documentation.
  • Must be able to use the agency electronic medical record program for all documentation. Is required to use collaborative documentation.
  • Represents and/or serves as a liaison for the assigned area of responsibility; maintains contact, cooperates with, and addresses federal, state, local and community organizations and other interested groups pertaining to the assigned programs.
  • Participates in quality improvement process, administrative meetings, team meetings, in service training, client staffing and case reviews.
  • Performs other related work as assigned.
