The Dell Medical School is seeking a Clinical Supervisor. The Clinical Nurse Supervisor is responsible for ensuring that care is coordinated, services are delivered, and care is managed appropriately within designated clinical units. The Clinical Nurse Supervisor supervises all clinical support staff (RNs, LVNs, CMAs and technicians) and provides training, mentoring and coaching as necessary.

  • Supervises and oversees the daily activities of clinical support staff within assigned ambulatory care units, including staffing schedules to effectively meet the needs of the providers and patients.
  • With the support of the Nurse Manager, ensures staff are adequately onboarded, continuous training and competencies are completed and provides regular coaching and feedback, as necessary.
  • Delegates effectively to share responsibilities with others.
  • Assists with and oversees electronic health record clinical inboxes, ensures the review and completion of ambulatory care unit logs, oversees unit phone system for inbound/outbound calls and voice messages.
  • Acts as the first escalation point of contact within assigned ambulatory care unit for patient and other clinical matters.
  • Provides patient education, as needed.
  • Maintains supply inventory within clinical units, managing costs effectively and efficiently.
  • Provides direct nursing care to patient population, as needed based on clinic staffing ratios.
  • Provides feedback on process improvement initiatives and operational efficiency.
  • Cross trained in other ambulatory care clinics.
  • Attends nursing operations meetings, provides subject matter expertise to Clinical Education department.
  • Assumes responsibility for the clinic operations in the absence of the Clinical Nurse Manager, as designated.
  • Promotes individual professional growth and development by meeting requirements for mandatory/continuing education and skills competency while supporting department-based goals.
  • Associate’s degree in nursing with at least (2) years of nursing experience in an outpatient or inpatient setting.
  • Unencumbered Licensed Registered Nurse in the State of Texas.
  • BLS certification.
  • Bachelor’s degree in nursing.
  • Prior experience in a lead, charge nurse or supervisor capacity.
