About The Position

The Clinical Ambulatory Supervisor, RN provides administrative and clinical leadership during assigned shifts, partnering closely with clinic and departmental leadership to ensure high‑quality, patient‑centered care. This role supports operational efficiency, effective utilization of labor resources, and the development of a highly skilled, engaged care team—all while maintaining a safe, compassionate, and cost‑effective care environment.

Requirements

  • Associate Degree in Nursing from an accredited nursing program.
  • Current State of Illinois Registered Nurse (RN) license.
  • Minimum of five (5) years of experience as a Registered Nurse.
  • Current BLS/CPR certification.
  • Strong analytical, communication, and leadership skills.
  • Ability to lead, coach, and teach staff effectively.
  • Ability to manage complex situations and interact effectively in challenging environments.
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to review clinical documentation and reports accurately.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Nursing from an accredited program.
  • At least three (3) years of RN experience in an ambulatory care setting.
  • National nursing certification.

Responsibilities

  • Provide day‑to‑day clinical and operational leadership for ambulatory staff during assigned shifts.
  • Establish caring, therapeutic relationships with patients and families through effective communication, shared decision‑making, and mutual goal setting.
  • Collaborate closely with physicians, interdisciplinary teams, and clinic leadership to meet patient and family needs.
  • Lead and participate in daily safety and capacity huddles.
  • Oversee staffing, scheduling, and labor utilization to align with patient volume, acuity, and productivity targets.
  • Support clinic goals, change initiatives, and nursing shared governance activities.
  • Supervise staff, including hiring, onboarding, coaching, performance evaluations, and corrective action when needed.
  • Create and manage staffing schedules in partnership with lead staff to ensure appropriate coverage.
  • Provide education and guidance to staff and/or students to support professional growth and competency.
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives, research activities, and the development of evidence‑based care protocols.
  • Monitor patient safety, recognize changes in patient status, and ensure timely, appropriate interventions.
  • Support clinic management with productivity, staffing, and budgetary goals while ensuring safe patient care.
  • Assist with conflict resolution and foster a positive, collaborative team environment.
  • Maintain accountability for personal professional practice and progress toward annual goals.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
