As a Speech Pathologist, you will perform clinical Speech Pathology test procedures and evaluate communication and swallowing function of patients. Requirements

  • Master's Degree in Speech/Language Pathology
  • Current Speech-Language Pathology License (SP) in Ohio from the State Board of Speech-Language Pathology & Audiology
  • Certification of Clinical Competence (CCC-SLP) from the American Speech Language Hearing Association (ASHA)
  • Completion of a nine-month clinical fellowship year

Responsibilities

  • Provide clinical services to patients.
  • Perform diagnostic Speech Pathology test procedures.
  • Evaluate communication and swallowing function of patients.
  • Interpret and report test results to facilitate medical diagnosis.
  • Provide counseling and education about communication and the diagnosis to patients and families.
  • Determine therapeutic plans, including the need for therapy, frequency of treatment, focus for intervention, prognosis and duration of therapy.
  • Select assistive speech devices to improve communication.
  • Perform re-evaluation to determine progress after therapy.
  • Provide observations about hearing and other behaviors to help determine the need for other services.
  • Maintain records of all services.
  • Communicate results and recommendations for improving communicative function to referral sources and outside agencies such as schools and employees.
