About The Position

The Clinical Social Worker III (LCSW/LMFT) will be assigned to Citywide Case Management Forensics Program-Mental Health Diversion (MHD) Team. Under the general supervision of the Clinical Supervisor and/or Program Director, the incumbent will collaborate with criminal justice partners including Jail Behavior Health, Collaborative Courts and Adult Probation as well as SFGH Psychiatric Emergency Services in working with high-risk dually diagnosed justice-involved adults in the community. The incumbent will provide psychosocial assessment, crisis intervention and 5150 services, individual and group therapy and substance abuse services, brief therapeutic interventions, consultation, education, community linkages, supportive services, and facilitates the plan of care for patients with particular focus on high-risk populations. Clients will receive their mental health and substance abuse services at the Center or wherever they are located. The incumbent will assist clients in meeting their needs and will make referrals as appropriate. In addition, the CSW III will be the lead clinician and act as a consultant for the clinical team, other departments within the division and our community partners. The incumbent will partner with the MHD supervisor to provide collaborative court assessment and liaison services which will include conducting eligibility assessments, creating court placement reports and representing the team in case conferencing to provide clinical expertise and advocacy. Additional CSW III duties include but are not limited to monitoring data, participating in DPH State Performance Improvement Plans, keeping stock of client resources and spearheading special projects. The CSW III has advanced knowledge and skills and is distinguished from the CSW II by leadership activities that contribute to program development, provision of educational programs, clinical supervision and consultation services as those listed above. The CSW III will help forward the SFGH Department of Psychiatry’s comprehensive effort to treat high-risk clients in the community and to reduce unnecessary use of institutional care. The final salary and offer components are subject to additional approvals based on UC policy. Your placement within the salary range is dependent on a number of factors including your work experience and internal equity within this position classification at UCSF. For positions that are represented by a labor union, placement within the salary range will be guided by the rules in the collective bargaining agreement. The salary range for this position is $45.19 - $78.06 (Step Hourly Rate). Requirements

  • Master's degree from an accredited school of social work, possession of a clinical social worker/MFT license issued by the California Board of Behavioral Science Examiners, and two years of post-master’s experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience; and knowledge and abilities essential to the successful performance of the duties assigned to the position
  • CSWIII: Current California State License of Clinical Social Work or Marriage and Family Therapists and in good standing
  • Ability to work effectively and collaboratively with interdisciplinary teams
  • Ability to work in a high stress, high volume area and work well under pressure and with deadlines
  • Ability to follow oral and written instructions accurately, and be detail-oriented
  • Able to efficiently prepare written summaries of activities, set priorities and complete reports within required timeframes
  • Knowledge of medical and/or psychiatric terminology
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work with clients and program staff from diverse cultural and social class backgrounds
  • Demonstrated excellent attendance and reliability
  • A preliminary job offer and assignment may be extended pending successful background clearance
  • An understanding of mental health issues and sensitivity toward mental health clients
  • Two years working with severely mentally ill adults, the homeless and dual diagnosed populations
  • One year experience doing community-based case management and the ability to do outreach including to SRO hotels
  • Able to climb stairs
  • Able to lift 50 lbs
  • One year experience working with individual actively involved in the criminal justice system
  • Ability to obtain San Francisco County Jail Clearance through the San Francisco Sheriff’s Department
