About The Position

These roles focus on the assessment, diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of mental health disorders, emotional disturbances, and behavioral issues. Professionals within this job family work with individuals, families, and groups to address psychological well-being and promote mental health through therapeutic interventions, counseling, and support services. Licensed professionals who connect UVA students and staff to support systems that are available to address a variety of issues, such as housing, financial distress, mental health and crisis intervention. Individual contributors with responsibility in a clinical discipline or specialty. Typically involves diagnosing, treating, and caring for patients, and often include face-to-face interactions with patients. May also spend some time designing and implementing clinical programs, policies, and services using specialized knowledge and skills. Specialty license or certification required which is acquired through advanced education, training and/or experience. This career stream will be most commonly applied to patient care and/or scientific/laboratory technologist jobs. Requires broad knowledge of operational procedures and tools obtained through extensive work experience and require vocational or technical education. Works under limited supervision for routine situations. Provides assistance and/or may lead and training to lower-level employees. Problems typically are not routine and require analysis to understand. May lead daily operation activities.

Requirements

Education: Master's degree in Social Work from a CSWE accredited social work program required
Experience: 3 years' experience post master's required.
Licensure: Licensed to practice as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in the Commonwealth of Virginia (LCSW) or applicants with an active license from another state must obtain Virginia LCSW within 18 months of hire date.
