About The Position

We're looking for a dedicated social worker to join our team as our program is in its second year. Work with lower, middle, and high school students and their families in this specialized non-public program.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree from an accredited school of Social Work.
  • Must be licensed in the State of Maryland, by the Board of Social Work Examiners, Maryland State Department of Health and Mental Hygiene as a Licensed Certified Social Worker-Clinical (L.C.S.W.-C.).
  • The Social Work candidate must have two years clinical experience through internships or job placements in the provision of services to children and adolescents with developmental, learning and/or emotional disabilities.

  • Individual must demonstrate competence across all age groups due to the diversity of the children and families served by KKI.
  • Clinical care focus is on the neonate, pediatric, and adolescent populations, as well as some adults with disabilities.

Responsibilities

  • Provides social work services to students, including psychosocial assessment and treatment/interventions, including but not limited to individual and group therapy, case management services and family support if needed.
  • Participates in interdisciplinary school committees.
  • Provides appropriate documentation according to departmental guidelines, including but not limited to required IEP documentation, progress notes, psychosocial assessments, supports the team in the development of the Functional Behavioral Assessments, Behavioral Intervention Plans, and reports for outside agencies.
  • Functions effectively within a multidisciplinary team, by advocating for client needs, participating actively in team plans, and using clear, concise, and assertive communication in written and oral form.
  • Demonstrates a competent approach to crisis management including clinical and any necessary administrative follow-up. Will appropriately document crisis intervention forms as required by interdepartmental guidelines.
  • Maintains working relationships with staff, students and their families, interdisciplinary and interagency representatives, Institute staff and visitors.
  • Considers cultural factors in treatment planning for students and in working with their families.
