About The Position

The Clinical Services Rep assists the clinical staff by performing a variety of clerical tasks that ensure the efficiency of the unit and provide outstanding customer service to our patients and visitors. Relies on established guidelines to accomplish tasks. Works under close supervision.

  • Able to use office equipment and multi-task.

Responsibilities

  • Clerical/Technical Tasks: An adequate quantity of forms, and supplies is ordered and maintained on the unit at all times.
  • Unit library information, reference materials, appropriate policy/procedure manuals (hospitals, department, regulating bodies, government agencies) is accurately and orderly maintained on the unit as evidenced by easy retrieval.
  • Patient diet list is accurately completed daily as evidenced by lack of complaints.
  • Patient charges are accurately completed/entered into the computer system at all times.
  • Accurately and appropriately receives, places, and transfers phone calls, and records and communicates messages; efficiently and accurately uses phones, intercoms and computer as evidenced by lack of complaints.
  • The patient chart and/or patient Kardex is maintained in the appropriate order and ensures that all forms are labeled with the correct patient identification label; ensures that the chart is prepared for transfer to Medical Records upon discharge of the patient.
  • The discharge procedure is effectively communicates to patient/family as evidenced by lack of complaints.
  • Physician orders are accurately transcribed within specified time frames and all necessary forms completed; Communicates information appropriately---including computer/telephone requests for Housekeeping, Linen Services, Plant Operations, Lab, X-ray, EKG, etc. as evidenced by lack of customer complaints
  • Clinical data is accurately recorded within specified timeframes on the patient chart as instructed by the nurse or physician.
  • Accurately and in a timely manner communicates all pertinent patient care information, complaints and general environmental information (hazards, breakage) to the Manager/Charge Nurse at all times.
  • Knowledge of unit based quality improvement initiatives is demonstrated at all times.
  • Work area and responsibilities are assessed and provides constructive suggestions to benefit the unit as needed.
  • Promptly seeks assistance from appropriate personnel when the need arises.
  • Other duties as assigned are completed.
  • Active participation on unit teams, work groups and/ or committees is provided as requested; anticipates needs and voluntarily assists other
