About the position

The Clinical RN, Fetal Nurse Coordinator at Oregon Health & Science University is responsible for providing effective care coordination for pregnant patients with fetal anomalies and genetic conditions. This role involves managing patient care throughout the Fetal Care Program, ensuring seamless entry into the OHSU system, and providing education and support during the entire pregnancy care episode. The Nurse Coordinator will work closely with multidisciplinary teams to develop individualized care plans and participate in quality improvement initiatives.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee pregnant person referral intake including receipt and review of records, scheduling, and needs assessment.
  • Act as the primary contact point for patients within the fetal care program from referral through the postpartum period.
  • Engage in the development of care management standards and care delivery models.
  • Participate in counseling of pregnant individuals with the fetal team and multidisciplinary specialists.
  • Assess pregnant individuals/families for social determinants of health (SDOH) and connect them to appropriate resources.
  • Triage urgent/emergent calls and participate in provider visits for patients when appropriate.
  • Conduct phone triage of common obstetric questions and conditions.
  • Support communication with patients and referring provider offices.
  • Assist with prenatal operating room procedures for fetal care patients, focusing on care coordination and fetal intervention expertise.
  • Support pregnant individuals and families in situations of perinatal loss and/or termination of pregnancy.
  • Participate in research studies and protocols.

Requirements

  • Baccalaureate Degree in Nursing from an accredited program (CCNE, ACEN, or CNEA) or Associate Degree in Nursing with enrollment in a BSN program within 3 years of hire.
  • Current, unencumbered Oregon AND Washington State Registered Nurse Licenses.
  • BLS certification at the time of hire, issued by the American Heart Association (AHA).
  • Two years of obstetric direct patient care experience within the last five years.
  • One year of obstetric phone triage experience.
  • Experience caring for patients undergoing pregnancy termination or palliative delivery.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).

Nice-to-haves

  • RNC-OB, RNC-MNN, RNC-NIC, or CCRN certification in neonatal nursing.
  • One year of experience working in a Maternal Fetal Medicine Clinic or other high-risk obstetric clinic.
  • One year of recent experience in inpatient labor and delivery, postpartum, antepartum, or neonatal critical care unit.
  • Experience in a fetal care center with or without complex fetal interventions.
  • Medical fluency in Spanish or Russian.
