About The Position

The ChartSpan Clinical Resource Nurse plays a vital role in Chartspan's clinical operations serving as a key resource for clinical expertise, staff education, and patient care coordination. Through Clinical Expertise and Patient Care, the nurse serves as a resource for complex patient care situations, providing advanced clinical knowledge and guidance to clinical and non-clinical staff. They assist in assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating patient care protocols to ensure it meets the highest standards across the clinical departments. The nurse supports clinical staff in decision-making and problem-solving related to patient care and provides direct patient care when necessary, particularly in cases requiring advanced expertise. In terms of Staff Education and Training, the nurse develops and delivers ongoing education programs for nursing and non-nursing staff, ensuring they are updated on clinical best practices, new protocols, and procedures. They provide one-on-one coaching or mentorship to nurses/health coaches, especially new hires or those needing additional support, and organize and lead up-trainings. The nurse also participates in or leads quality improvement initiatives aimed at enhancing patient care, safety, and clinical outcomes, and monitors compliance with clinical guidelines, policies, and procedures. Additionally, they contribute to the development of clinical protocols, policies, and procedures to ensure they reflect current evidence-based practices and assist with the implementation of new clinical policies. The nurse acts as a mentor or role model for clinical staff, fostering professional growth and development, and helps to manage clinical workflows, prioritization of care, and efficient use of resources. They serve as a point of contact for nursing staff when clinical issues or challenges arise, offering support and solutions in real time. The nurse leads HIPAA policies and protocols implementation, maintains triage team licensure tracking, and supports staff in understanding and complying with relevant regulations. They monitor and ensure accurate and timely documentation of patient care activities and assist in conducting regular audits of triage calls. The nurse also assists in developing patient education materials and supports the Nurse Escalation Team by stepping into the Charge Nurse role to manage daily operations as needed.

Requirements

  • Registered Nurse (RN) with an active, COMPACT, unencumbered license in good standing.
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) required; Master's degree in Nursing, Education, or related field preferred.
  • Certification in a specialty nursing area (e.g., CCRN, CEN, or CMSRN) is a plus.
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS).
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of clinical nursing experience in an acute or outpatient care setting.
  • At least 1-2 years in a leadership, educator, or mentor role within a healthcare environment.
  • Experience in triage, care coordination, or working with clinical protocols (e.g., Schmitt-Thompson) is preferred.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience supporting nursing licensure tracking and triage call audits.
  • Familiarity with patient education tools, such as Healthwise, and care planning resources.
