About The Position

The Clinical Research, Translational Sciences, and Community Engagement Coordinator at Texas Southern University will play a pivotal role in supporting clinical research initiatives, facilitating translational science projects, and promoting community engagement activities. This position involves collaboration with interdisciplinary teams to advance research objectives, enhance participant recruitment, and foster partnerships with community organizations. The Clinical Research, Translational Sciences, and Community Engagement Coordinator is a highly collaborative, self-motivated, creative person who is adaptable to new processes with capacity to function independently. This is a Grant Funded position.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree with a minimum of three (3) years Clinical Research, Translational Sciences, Community Engagement/Outreach or Health Promotions or similar experience is required. Most relevant degree areas include public health, health promotion, health policy, social work-related degree, or health education. Degrees in other fields may be considered with evidence of sufficient university-level coursework and/or professional continuing education in the areas listed above.
  • Demonstrated skills in computer software applications, data management, and analysis software (e.g., Microsoft outlook, Teams, office 365 excel, REDCap, Qualtrics, SPSS, R)
  • Ability to work in a team-based environment.
  • Conscience to details in study planning, data collection and analysis
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, written and verbal communication skills, and public speaking skills, with a demonstrated ability to work with diverse populations.

  • A minimum of 3 years Clinical Research, Translational Sciences, Community Engagement/Outreach or Health Promotions or similar experience
  • Ability to maintain the security or integrity of critical infrastructure, which may include communications systems, computer networks and systems, cybersecurity systems, electrical grid, hazardous waste treatment or water treatment system.

Nice To Haves

  • Certified Health Education Specialist (CHES), Certified in Public Health (CPH), Community Health Worker (CHW), Certified Clinical Research Professional (CCRP) or eligible and intent to become certified
  • Master's degree preferred, particularly in Public Health, Clinical Research, or a related area.
  • Bilingual e.g.: Spanish, Asian dialects, etc.
  • CITI (GCP/Human Subjects) credentialling and knowledge of regulatory requirements
  • Qualitative methods (interviews, coding with NVivo/Atlas.ti) or implementation science exposure.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in the planning, implementation, and monitoring of clinical research studies.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and ethical standards.
  • Coordinate participant recruitment strategies and manage participant engagement processes.
  • Collaborate with researchers to bridge the gap between laboratory findings, community driven data, and clinical applications.
  • Assist in the preparation of grant proposals, reports, and scientific publications.
  • Facilitate the analysis and interpretation of data for translational research projects.
  • Develop and implement community outreach programs to raise awareness about research studies, health services, and health initiatives.
  • Build and maintain relationships with community organizations, clinics, and stakeholders
  • Organize health education events, webinars, and health outreaches to promote research findings, health services, and health education.
  • Maintain accurate records of research activities, participant data, and outreach initiatives.
  • Prepare and manage budgets related to community engagement activities and research projects.
  • Organizes and takes reports of meetings, conferences, and training sessions for volunteers, team members and community partners.
  • Communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders to promote research initiatives, community engagement activities, and health services initiatives.
  • Collaborate with clinical research teams, researchers, and community partners to enhance health outcomes in the community.
  • Supports dissemination of research findings through various channels, including social media, publications, scientific conferences, and community presentations.
