The tissue procurement coordinator works under general supervision and is responsible for the coordination of biospecimen (tissue, blood, urine samples) acquisition from oncology research subjects in accordance with Good Clinical Practice Guidelines, federal, and sponsor regulations and guidelines, BMHCC and BCRI policies and procedures. The tissue procurement coordinator will be responsible for the collection, processing and shipping of biospecimen according to research protocol specifications. Critical to this function is effective communication with research coordinators and developing key relationships with various departments and surgeons. The tissue procurement coordinator will also ensure that all biospecimen related data is entered in an accurate and timely manner, maintain an internal database of all research biospecimen, and assist in the development of biospecimen handling and storage standard operating procedures. Other duties may be performed as assigned.
