About The Position

The Clinical Research Technician role involves collecting biological samples and performing phlebotomy, vital signs, and ECGs in compliance with study protocols and Good Clinical Practice (GCP) standards. The technician ensures participant safety and data quality throughout the study process.

Requirements

• Technical school phlebotomy training or Medical Assistant certificate.
• Minimum two years of active phlebotomy experience preferred.
• Working knowledge of OSHA regulations and proper blood collection techniques.

Responsibilities

• Collect biological samples such as urine and sputum.
• Draw blood specimens by venepuncture according to study schedules.
• Record and maintain records of blood draws and other biological specimen collections via paper or electronic methods.
• Assist with the proper labeling and preparation of blood collection tubes.
• Ensure all necessary blood collection tubes, equipment, and supplies are ready before blood draw time.
• Prepare the unit for scheduled activities and remove all equipment and supplies after completion.
• Take and record accurate vital signs and report any abnormalities.
• Operate ECG machines and/or Holter monitors as per scope of practice.
• Report any adverse events or compliance issues to the Study Nurse Coordinator.
• Follow proper phlebotomy and laboratory procedures in compliance with OSHA regulations and GCP.
• Dispose of biomedical waste according to procedures and schedules.
• Read and understand all study protocols and schedules.
• Assist in recording and distributing meals to study participants according to strict schedules.
• Maintain cleanliness and orderliness of the unit.
• Interact professionally with study participants during their stay.
• Observe confidentiality practices regarding protocols and subject information.
• Assist with preparation of data collection binders and study documents as assigned.
