The Laboratory for Translational Neurorecovery (LTNr) Clinical Research Occupational Therapist is responsible for participation in clinical research studies of patients recovering from stroke and other acute neurological injuries. The LTNr Clinical Research Occupational Therapist is familiar with patients recovering from stroke and acute neurological injuries as well as clinical research and is also able to help support the research team at the Laboratory for Translational Neurorecovery / Center for Neurotechnology and Neurorecovery. This is a part-time position that is able to support 16 - 32 working hours/week, depending on the incumbent's availability. Summary Helps people of all ages to participate in the activities and occupations that are important to them. Routinely works with individuals who have physical, cognitive, developmental, or emotional challenges that affect their ability to perform everyday tasks. Does this position require Patient Care? Requirements

  • Master's Degree Occupational Therapy required
  • Occupational Therapist [Massachusetts License] - required
  • Occupational therapist experience 0-1 year preferred.
  • Experience in a residential/assisted living or skilled nursing facility 0-1 year preferred.
  • Ability to work effectively with patients and co-workers.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology.
  • Excellent time management skills.
  • Good oral and written communication skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills required.

Nice To Haves

  • Basic Life Support [BLS Certification] - preferred

Responsibilities

  • Conduct assessments of patients' physical, mental, and developmental abilities.
  • Develop individualized treatment plans based on assessments.
  • Implement and monitor treatment plans, adjusting as needed.
  • Provide education to patients and their families about therapeutic activities and exercises they can do at home.
  • Collaborate with other healthcare professionals, such as physicians, nurses, and physical therapists, to provide comprehensive care.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records and progress notes.
  • Attend staff meetings, continuing education programs, and professional development activities to stay current with new techniques and best practices.
