The Clinical Research Nurse assists the Principal Investigators (PI's) and other participating physicians and investigators in the initial identification and evaluation of protocols to be submitted to IRB/CIRB for approval. Develops and implements in-house and community educational activities regarding research programs and clinical research studies. Works with supervisor, director and physicians and other investigators to help identify and evaluate all potential individuals for participation in clinical research studies. Develops implements and monitors QI processes for research studies and operations. Assists with investigator and initiated clinical trials and pharmaceutical studies as assigned. Clinical Research Nurse serves as an expert oncology clinician and patient/client advocate. The Clinical Research Nurse integrates education, research, management, leadership and consultation into their roles to achieve quality outcomes. The Clinical Research Nurse practices in a collegial relationship with physicians, nursing peers and other professionals to enhance patient care and the health environment. Maintains knowledge of professional and industry trends and works with Nursing Leadership to create a work environment that facilitates and encourages nursing staff to demonstrate accountability for their own practice, an environment that empowers register nurses at all levels of the organization to utilize critical thinking and participate in decision making that affect nursing practice. The Clinical Research Nurse works with Nursing Leadership and nursing staff to develop/implement and evaluate the Nursing Strategic Plan, professional practice and patient care delivery model and clinical quality initiatives, professional development and research initiatives and participates in organizational and community initiatives to improve the professional practice of nursing and quality of patient outcomes/care. Practices in accordance with hospital policies and procedures, Georgia Nurse Practice Act, Professional Standards, Code of Ethics for Nursing, and the institution's nursing philosophy, patient care delivery model and nursing strategic plan. Complies with the Memorial Health Compliance Program, related policies and procedures and the Code of Business Practices; reports instances of perceived and actual non-compliance to Team Leader or through other reporting mechanisms.
