Duties: Takes and records various readings such as heart and respiratory rate, blood pressure, weight, body temperature, etc. Collects and processes samples from patients including blood, urine, etc. Prepares samples for analysis or shipment. Collects all laboratory reports, data, and records. Instructs medical personnel in the use of highly specialized research equipment, drugs, etc. Participates in and contributes to research activities that are related to the area of specialization in which they are involved. Participates in conferences pertaining to the research area. Identifies patients who may be eligible to participate in the research program. Performs the initial assessment of potential patients. Provides potential patients with study information. Obtains informed consent forms. Obtains clinical history and completes patient data forms. Acts as the immediate clinical resource and the liaison between physicians, nurses, laboratory personnel, etc. Performs data management and data analysis. Responsible for the initiation, organization, and carrying out of patient follow-up. Assesses patients at all follow-up visits. Attends various meetings pertaining to the research program. May present information in research meetings. Collaborates with other clinical sites for research purposes. Performs various duties as needed to successfully fulfill the function of the position.
