The Clinical Research Coordinator will work under the direct supervision of the Director of the Clinical Research Office and Research Administration (CRORA) in collaboration with Principal Investigators to provide essential research support that requires the application of standard clinical research practices. This role is pivotal in the planning, implementation, and execution of Clinical Trials for both the Department of Medicine, specifically the section of Nephrology, and the Ophthalmology departments at the Temple University Lewis Katz School of Medicine. The Clinical Research Coordinator will be responsible for a variety of tasks that ensure the smooth operation of clinical trials, including but not limited to patient screening, tracking, and enrollment in active clinical trials, obtaining informed consent, scheduling and conducting study visits, and preparing Institutional Review Board (IRB) submissions. In addition to these responsibilities, the Clinical Research Coordinator will act as the primary contact for study sponsors and participants, process and ship laboratory specimens, interact with study sponsors, faculty, and staff, and collect and enter study data into the study database. The incumbent will also schedule and participate in sponsor meetings, resolving queries in a timely manner. The role requires assisting with start-up activities for new studies, including feasibility reviews and pre-start-up sponsor meetings. The Clinical Research Coordinator will work independently to drive day-to-day research activities, support multiple active protocols simultaneously, assist with investigator-initiated research, write protocols, submit studies to local and central IRBs, maintain regulatory compliance and documentation, update study records on clinicaltrials.gov, and collaborate with multiple investigators while adhering to FDA, IRB, Pennsylvania, and related regulations as well as Temple policies.
