About The Position

Responsible for screening patients for participation in clinical trials, enrolling patients onto these studies, monitoring protocol implementation, completing required forms and reporting results. Works closely with other clinical research staff. May be required to work varied shifts. This position is in the Emergency Medicine Department.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree required.
  • 0-1 years related work experience required.
  • Medical terminology knowledge.
  • Working knowledge of computer systems required, including web-based applications and some Microsoft Office applications.

Responsibilities

  • Independently or in conjunction with other clinical research staff and/or research nurse, recruits and enrolls patients onto clinical trials according to study protocols.
  • Checks all eligibility and ineligibility criteria with the patients' medical record.
  • Discusses informed consent with patients and interacts with them prior to entering the study and throughout the entire treatment.
  • Learns protocol and monitors strict adherence to protocols by physicians, nurses and patients.
  • Extracts data on protocol patients from hospital records, outpatient charts and private physician office records.
  • May assist clinic staff in obtaining insurance approval for patient protocol participation.
  • Assists investigator with correspondence with IRB.
