About The Position

We are seeking a research assistant to facilitate psychological and medical projects in the Hasbro Children’s Partial Hospitalization Program (HCPHP) for 20 hours a week. This position may have the potential to be increased to a full-time position, if desired. HCPHP is a unique day treatment program that treats patients with co-occurring medical and psychiatric conditions. HCPHP’s treatment model emphasizes integrated care, with intensive expertise across multiple disciplines (e.g., pediatrics, psychiatry, psychology, nursing, nutrition, rehabilitation therapy). The RA will support research projects, program evaluation and psychosocial screening efforts. Specific tasks will include managing data, preparing and summarizing study results, and other tasks integral to research. The research assistant may have the opportunity to participate in generating presentations, reports, and manuscripts as the data permit.

Requirements

  • A bachelor’s in psychology, public health, biology or a related field.
  • Ability to commit to the position for at least 1 year.
  • Experience with research concepts and techniques preferred.
  • Ability to function autonomously in a collaborative interdisciplinary team involving research, medical and mental health care.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrated strong administrative skills and a strong attention to detail.
  • Strong computer skills (e.g., REDCAP, SPSS, Excel).
  • Ability to work harmoniously with diverse groups of individuals, including children and parents.

Responsibilities

  • Support providers and trainees on the HCPHP team.
  • Prepare materials for and manage IRB submissions.
  • Conduct data management, including survey data and data extracted from electronic medical records.
  • Assist with procedures for administration of psychosocial screeners to patients and families.
  • Assist with project coordination, including administrative tasks (e.g., organizing agendas, tracking study decisions and milestones) and communication with team members and study participants/patients.
  • Draft research training manuals and procedures.
  • Conduct literature reviews, support manuscript preparation, oral presentations, poster presentations, and grant writing.
