About The Position

Mass General Brigham relies on a wide range of professionals, including doctors, nurses, business people, tech experts, researchers, and systems analysts to advance our mission. As a not-for-profit, we support patient care, research, teaching, and community service, striving to provide exceptional care. We believe that high-performing teams drive groundbreaking medical discoveries and invite all applicants to join us and experience what it means to be part of Mass General Brigham. The Baker Functional Neuroimaging and Bioinformatics Laboratory at McLean Hospital, Belmont, MA, is hiring a full-time clinical research assistant for onboarding as soon as possible. Our lab uses translational approaches to identify biomarkers of affective and psychotic disorders. We are looking for an individual to join a team of clinical research assistants working with the McLean Hospital Division of Psychotic Disorders and the Division of Depression and Anxiety Disorders to coordinate several research studies and recruit eligible patients. This position would be an excellent fit for graduating seniors who plan to apply to medical school or graduate school in psychology / neuroscience and seek additional research experience and clinical exposure. Two of the main projects this clinical research assistant will work on is Neurogenetic Analysis of Unipolar and Bipolar Depression which is sponsored by the National Institute of Mental Health (NIMH) and Capturing Longitudinal Fluctuations in Behavior, Mood and Cognition in Patients with Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder. These projects are transdiagnostic research studies aiming to characterize psychiatric illnesses using clinical assessments, self-report measures, behavioral tasks, neuropsychological tasks, EEG, fMRI, recorded interviews, activity monitoring, and biological testing to improve understanding and treatment of mood, anxiety, and psychotic disorders. The prospective clinical research assistant will contribute to these projects working with both inpatients at McLean and outpatients in the community. We thus seek an individual who can work independently in clinical settings and act as a liaison between clinical teams (psychiatrists, nurses, social workers) and research teams. Applicants with prior work or volunteer experience in psychiatric settings is preferred as this role will involve direct patient contact in an acute psychiatric setting. This position will primarily provide opportunities to learn research/clinical skills such as fMRI, clinical interviewing, and sleep and activity assessment using wearable devices.
