Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Nutrition, Dietetics, or related field; Master's degree preferred.
  • Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (RDN) certification or RD-Eligible.
  • CDR card
  • ServSafe certification
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary team environment.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct nutrition assessment for patients within required time frames.
  • Obtain timely and appropriate data and analyze/interpret data based on evidence-based standards. The Dietitian will cover Medical, Surgical as well as ICU.
  • Provide appropriate documentation that summarizes the nutrition care plan in the patient's medical record, including nutrition assessment, diagnosis, intervention, and plan/goals. Once implemented, the clinical dietitian will monitor the progress toward goals.
  • Participate in multidisciplinary care conferences and discharge planning activities, as appropriate.
  • Work closely with other disciplines including OT, PT, speech, and social services to ensure collaboration of care.
  • Perform nutrition diagnosis after identifying the problem and clarify the cause of the problem with the patient's medical team.
  • Develop, implement, and/or make recommendations for an individualized plan for nutrition intervention, including enteral and parenteral nutrition.
  • Review/approve therapeutic diets to ensure compliance with all state and federal guidelines.
  • Assess and evaluate techniques that consider the varied needs of age-specific populations as well as cultural, religious, and ethnic concerns.
  • Work collaboratively with and provide area supervision of dining service staff to assure accuracy of diet prescriptions and high level of customer satisfaction/scores.
  • Provide appropriate follow-up in accordance with the patient's treatment goals, referring patients for outpatient counseling, community resources or home services, as appropriate.
  • Conduct in-services and educational presentations to hospital/department staff.
  • Maintain accurate record keeping of daily clinical activities, as required.
  • Participate in the orientation and training of new dietitians and DTR’s.
  • Function as a preceptor to dietetic students and interns.
  • Plan learning experiences, teach and evaluate the performance of students and interns.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
