General Summary The Clinical Registered Dietitian I is a member of the interdisciplinary health care team who provides general clinical nutrition care to all patients on units in which they are trained and competent to perform duties. Clinical RD I identifies patients with malnutrition, increased protein and/or energy needs or other medical problems affecting nutrition status. Primary responsibilities include developing and implementing medical nutrition therapy using established standards of care and practice policies/guidelines; evaluating and monitoring the effectiveness and outcomes of the plan of care; ensuring continuity of care throughout the provision of care process; providing nutrition education to patient and family members on behaviors to accomplish patient goals; conducting educational programs for hospital staff and the community, as needed. Participate in performance improvement projects as assigned.

Requirements

  • Complete the minimum education requirements set forth by the Commission on Dietetic Registration (CDR) and the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics.
  • Entry level applied knowledge of Medical Nutrition Therapy for an adult population.
  • Must be a Registered Dietitian; registered with the Commission on Dietetic Registration (CDR) as defined by the California Business and Professions Code and be current with CDR portfolio.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in acute healthcare facilities is preferred.
  • General knowledge of Electronic Medical Record programs, nutrient analysis software and MS office applications or similar.
