From prenatal screening before birth to newborn screening shortly after birth and whole genome sequencing through one's lifetime. Our goal is to provide valuable and insightful information about potential underlying genetic conditions, guiding patients and providers to improved health outcomes. We are seeking a dedicated Clinical R&D Scientist III to join our Pittsburgh state-of-the-art omics laboratory, where you'll begin your career making a meaningful difference in patient care. Working within our biochemical and immunological analysis departments, you'll contribute to our mission of delivering precise diagnostic results that help healthcare providers improve patient outcomes. Requirements

  • Ph.D. in Medicinal Chemistry, Organic Chemistry, Chemical Biology, or related discipline.
  • A minimum of one year of experience working in a clinical laboratory.
  • Strong foundation in organic synthesis, and analytical method development.
  • Hands-on experience with chromatography systems
  • Experience with cell-based assays, PCR, or biochemical assays

Responsibilities

  • Develop and optimize purification workflows using ion-exchange, reverse-phase, size-exclusion, and flash chromatography
  • Support biological evaluation through cell-based assays, cytotoxicity studies, enzyme assays, and phototoxicity screens.
  • Contribute to process development for oligonucleotide or small-molecule therapeutics, including scale-up considerations and purification improvements.
  • Maintain detailed electronic lab notebooks, SOPs, and analytical reports.
  • Present research findings to multidisciplinary teams and external collaborators.
  • Performs clinical laboratory duties to test patient samples.
  • Prepares specimens for analysis and organizes tests to be performed.
  • Prepares and properly labels reagents required for laboratory testing
  • Reviews test results, maintains legible work records, and enters findings into the laboratory information systems.
  • Performs routine preventative maintenance on instruments and equipment’s according to established schedule and procedure
  • Verifies proper instrument function by checking and calibrating lab instruments and documents data.
  • Records on instrument log any repairs, replacement and maintenance performed on laboratory instruments.
  • Abides by laboratory safety policies and procedures.
