About The Position

Clinical Psychologist, Joint Base Lewis McChord, Puyallup, WA This position will be located at the Puyallup Community Medical Home, Puyallup, WA. This is a Direct Hire Solicitation Madigan’s Patient-Centered Medical Home Primary Care Clinics are Army Medical Homes with an interdisciplinary approach to delivering evidence-based, comprehensive primary care– coordinating care delivered outside of the primary care setting and proactively engaging patients as partners in health. The Army Medical Home is designed around one core principle: putting patients first. The Army Medical Home is Army Medicine’s gateway to influence the “life space” where patients make decisions on the key determinants of health and wellness–sleep, activity, and nutrition (that is, the Performance Triad). Each patient will partner with a team of health care providers - physicians, nurses, behavioral health, clinical pharmacists, physical therapy, and case management professionals - to develop a comprehensive, personal health care plan. This team will form a partnership with you to provide improved access, coordinate needed services, answer your questions, and ensure you get the care you need. Your Medical Home team will remain the same as long as they continue to work within your medical home. This will improve your continuity of care and allow you to develop a closer partnership with your team. • Basic Requirement for Clinical Psychologist: Degree: Doctoral Degree (Ph.D. or equivalent) directly related to full professional work in clinical psychology.
• AND License: The Clinical Psychologist position requires a current, active, valid, unrestricted clinical license to practice Psychology independently, offered by a U.S. State, District of Columbia, commonwealth, territory or jurisdiction.

• In addition to meeting the basic requirement above, to qualify for this position you must also meet the qualification requirements listed below: Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes performing psychological evaluations, developing treatment plans, and providing behavioral health interventions.
• This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-12).

Responsibilities

• Screen and interview patients, and perform psychological and bio-psychosocial evaluations, using expert knowledge of general and specific concepts, principles, procedures, and practices relating toclinical psychology.
• Provide targeted assessment and evaluation, including definitive diagnoses inaccordance with the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders and functional statusfocused on the presenting problem.
• Conduct psychological and psychometric assessments andformulate behavioral health interventions appropriate to a primary care setting, and assisting with implementation and monitoring of treatment plans with Primary Care Managers (PCMs) and,Behavioral Health Care Managers (BHCMs).
• Provide timely and succinct feedback to PCMs regarding consultations findings andrecommendations.
• Determine the appropriateness of the patient receiving services in the primarycare setting, and assisting with implementation of treatment plans.
• Provide concise documentationof care and recommendations in patient’s medical record in no more than 72 hours after the patientis seen.
• Provide focused follow ups, including relapse – prevention education.
• Triage and referral ofpatients to Specialty Behavioral Health Care when appropriate.
• Uses objective and measurable outcomes to evaluate treatment effectiveness and makeadjustments if appropriate for increased compliance and efficacy.
• Provide high level expertise inhuman behavior as a primary care team member to develop specific clinical pathways or bestpractice programs for targeted patient groups (e.g., patients with acute stress symptoms andPTSD).
• Provide on-going consultation services for a sub-set of patients who require on-goingmonitoring and follow-up (i.e., continuity consultations) with a clinical psychologist.
• Perform casemanagement functions when those services are not available by an assigned BH Case Manager toinclude routine telephonic monitor of symptom severity, adherence to primary care treatment plans,etc. utilizing and guided by a web-based case management support tools.
• Develop, teach, and provide oversight for classes that promote education and skill-building toenhance psychological and physical health, and promote behavioral change related to improvedhealth status.
• Meet passing criteria of BHC core competencies as assessed by the clinic’s experttrainer within 90 days of being able to see patients.
• Evaluate training opportunities, andprofessional development activities.
• Adheres to the applicable Code of Ethics.
• PERFORMS OTHER DUTIES AS ASSIGNED.
