About The Position

The Clinical Psychologist VI position at the Hawaii State Department of Education involves performing professional work related to the development and application of psychological theories, principles, methods, and techniques. The role focuses on measuring, predicting, preventing, modifying, or inducing behavior, particularly for individuals and groups facing serious personality, social, emotional adjustment, or mental retardation issues. Responsibilities include providing psycho-diagnostic, psychotherapeutic, and consultative services, as well as engaging in prevention, training, and research activities. Some positions may require supervision of other multidisciplinary professional staff. Additional duties may be assigned as necessary.

Requirements

  • Doctoral degree in clinical psychology from an accredited college, including an internship, or one year of professional work experience in clinical psychology.
  • Doctoral degree in a specialty related to clinical psychology with an internship or post-doctoral clinical internship, or one year of post-doctoral clinical psychology experience.
  • Doctoral degree from an APA-approved training program or a regionally accredited institution with experiential requirements for the National Register of Health Service Providers in Psychology.
  • Diplomate certificate in good standing from the American Board of Examiners in Professional Psychology.
  • Valid license to practice psychology in the State of Hawaii.
  • Minimum of one additional year of professional clinical psychology experience for Level VI.

Responsibilities

  • Perform professional work concerned with the development and application of psychological theories and methods.
  • Provide psycho-diagnostic, psychotherapeutic, and consultative services.
  • Engage in prevention, training, and research activities.
  • Supervise other multidisciplinary professional staff as required.
  • Perform other duties as required.
