Clinical Psychologist - Gastroenterology

Children's Mercy KCKansas City, MO

About The Position

The Division of Gastroenterology, Hepatology, & Nutrition at Children’s Mercy Kansas City is recruiting a pediatric psychologist to join our faculty. The successful applicant will partner with providers in our Intestinal Rehabilitation (IR) program to serve children and adolescents by providing: 1) real-time screening for neuro/developmental differences (ND/DD) and other behavioral health issues impacting their GI care; and, 2) point-of-care support related to chronic illness management, central line care, medication/diet adherence, school avoidance, coping, quality of life, and well-being across the developmental continuum. Interested candidates will be invited to contribute to strengthening our academic portfolio through research collaborations, scholarly output, and national leadership opportunities, as well as pediatric medical and psychology training. Candidates should have previous training related to assessment and intervention with ND/DD populations and behavioral intervention with toddlers through early school-aged children. Familiarity with evidence-based interventions for toileting and feeding, parenting stress, and other pediatric health conditions (both general and specific to GI) is also highly desirable. While this clinical position will be predominantly outpatient, routine inpatient consultation will be expected to provide continuity of care for the IR population. This position includes teaching and supervising in the hospital’s pediatric medical and psychology training programs, including our APA-accredited psychology internship, and includes protected academic time for program development, research, and other scholarly activities. The specific percentage of time dedicated to research, program development, and teaching/supervision will be established based on the candidate’s interests and goals. The position carries an academic appointment at the University of Missouri-Kansas City School of Medicine, with rank commensurate with qualifications and experience.
