Children’s Mercy Kansas City is launching new programs to treat youth with medical/psychiatric or complex neurobehavioral treatment needs, including a partial hospitalization program (phased opening began in August of 2025) and a medical/surgical inpatient unit (planned opening February 2026). The Division of Developmental and Behavioral Health is recruiting a clinical psychologist to join a robust interdisciplinary team which includes clinical psychologists, psychiatrists, BCBAs, pediatricians, licensed clinical social workers, nurses, dieticians, child life specialists, art/music therapists, and teachers, as well as support staff, including a care coordinator/discharge planner. We are recruiting a psychologist to support the high acuity programs including the partial hospitalization program and step-down care. Ideal candidates will have training and/or experience with youth who have both medical and psychiatric presenting concerns, and/or neurodevelopmental/genetic disorders. Experience conducting diagnostic interviews, delivering individual, family, and group treatments, and conducting targeted psychological testing is desired. This position will include teaching in the hospital’s pediatric medical and psychology training programs. It will also include protected academic time for service, research, and other scholarly activities. Faculty mentoring is provided for all new faculty members and additional support is available for those interested in clinical scholarship (e.g., program evaluation, quality improvement initiatives). This position carries an academic appointment at the University of Missouri-Kansas City School of Medicine, with rank commensurate to qualifications and experience.
