About The Position

The Senior RX Clinical Programs Pharmacist (VSP/PT) plays a crucial role in enhancing health outcomes through the management of prescription drugs. This position involves overseeing medication therapy, conducting comprehensive medication reviews, and optimizing prescriptions for patients on multiple medications. The pharmacist will engage with patients through education and outreach, ensuring adherence to prescribed therapies while influencing departmental strategies. The role requires independent decision-making on complex issues and the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy or PharmD Degree.
  • Active pharmacist license in the state(s) of practice.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to stay on schedule.
  • Proven problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
  • Ability to work independently and within a team setting.
  • Excellent verbal and written presentation skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple or competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous experience with pharmacy benefits management.
  • Previous Commercial, Medicare and/or Medicaid experience.
  • 3 or more years clinical experience in managed care.
  • Ability to manage end-to-end processes.
  • Understanding of Humana's business processes and systems.
  • Previous management experience and ability to lead teams.
  • Previous program or project management experience.
  • Excellent data analysis skills with experience in Access, SQL, and Excel.
  • Lean, 6 sigma experience and/or certification.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee medication therapy and strategy on comprehensive medication reviews.
  • Optimize prescription drugs for patients taking multiple medications.
  • Drive health awareness through Rx Education and targeted campaigns.
  • Place outbound calls to confirm patient medication adherence and provide counseling.
  • Influence departmental strategy and make decisions on complex issues regarding project components.
