About The Position

The Clinical Program Staff Pharmacist at Express Scripts provides operational support for various clinical programs aimed at improving patient health outcomes. This role involves patient counseling, drug therapy management, and collaboration with healthcare professionals to ensure effective medication regimens. The pharmacist will engage with patients, educate them about their therapies, and represent Express Scripts in various settings to promote the value of their services.

Requirements

  • Registered pharmacist in the state of practice.
  • Highly-evolved clinical pharmacy skills and/or clinical knowledge of a specific disease state.
  • Superior written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficient in the use of computer applications.
  • Demonstrated commitment to ongoing self-study to enhance specialty knowledge.
  • Ability to work independently, solve problems, and make informed decisions in a timely manner.
  • Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to effectively represent Express Scripts to patients, clinicians, clients, and the public.
  • Ability to complete Express Scripts' required specialist training program.

Nice To Haves

  • PharmD degree or equivalent education and experience including post-graduate advanced clinical training.
  • ACCP, ASHP or comparable certification in practice specialty.
  • Experience with continuity of drug therapy management using evidence-based protocols.
  • Established record of performance as a trusted advisor to healthcare professionals, particularly prescribers.
  • Expert user of third-party drug information tools and websites.
  • Clinical residency or fellowship in target specialty preferred.
  • Spanish language fluency is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Perform comprehensive evaluations of patient health records and proactively reach out to patients to educate them on managing their drug regimens.
  • Respond to inquiries regarding drug therapy and follow up with patients to ensure continuity of care.
  • Establish credibility as a trusted advisor to physicians and healthcare professionals, addressing therapy concerns and recommending treatment plans.
  • Conduct drug utilization reviews for patients with complex conditions and consult with specialists to resolve therapy concerns.
  • Represent Express Scripts at meetings to educate clients on the Therapeutic Resource Centers (TRC) process and its benefits.
  • Participate in pilot studies with specialized clinics and community outreach related to the area of specialty.
  • Maintain knowledge in the area of specialization through self-study and continuing education, contributing to the knowledge of other pharmacists.
  • Continuously improve TRC outcomes by suggesting process improvements and new services.
