About The Position

The position involves performing the functions of an educator, facilitator, change agent, leader, consultant, and researcher in the area of nursing education. The individual will participate in the development, implementation, and evaluation of orientation programs, as well as develop and implement staff development and continuing education programs. The role requires assessing learner characteristics, creating effective learning environments, and demonstrating proficiency in technology use while evaluating the outcomes of staff education.

Requirements

  • Master's Degree in Nursing required.
  • Current license to practice as a Registered Professional Nurse in New York State required, plus specialized certifications as needed.
  • 4-7 years of technical experience required.
  • 0-2 years of leadership/management experience required.

Nice To Haves

  • Cardiology experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Assess learner characteristics including learning styles and learning needs for program development.
  • Create an effective learning environment and demonstrate proficiency in the use of technology.
  • Evaluate the outcomes of staff education.
  • Function in the roles of both teacher and facilitator, implementing a variety of teaching strategies tailored to the learner’s characteristics, learning needs, cultural perspectives, and outcome objectives.
  • Plan nursing professional development programs that are culturally relevant and incorporate concepts of multicultural and multigenerational education.
  • Apply nursing and learning theoretical and conceptual foundations as a basis for developing nursing professional development programs.
  • Maintain a visible clinical presence and adhere to regulatory body/agency standards.
  • Advocate for nursing professional development programs that support the needs of the learner and the organization.
  • Anticipate and forecast trends in nursing education.
  • Demonstrate sensitivity to ethical, cultural, and spiritual inclusion and engage in ethical decision-making.
  • Effectively facilitate group processes and follow regulatory requirements for health reporting.
  • Function as a change agent and leader, implementing motivational strategies at individual, group, program, or organizational levels.
  • Maintain confidentiality of sensitive information and use outcome measurements and evaluation methods.
  • Promote problem solving and interpret and use research in practice.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of the research process and model the application of evidence-based practice.
  • Use organizational strategic plans and goals to determine educational priorities and develop financial plans that allocate resources.
  • Plan and implement programs and projects using innovation and creativity.
  • Design and implement evaluation plans for programs and projects and develop budgets for them.
  • Accept personal responsibility for own professional development and promote participation in professional organizations for self and others.
  • Demonstrate effective oral and written communication and use effective interpersonal skills.
  • Foster critical thinking and link nurses to professional development and other relevant resources.
