About The Position

The position involves performing the functions of an educator, facilitator, change agent, leader, consultant, and researcher in the area of nursing education. The individual will participate in the development, implementation, and evaluation of orientation programs, as well as develop and implement staff development and continuing education programs. The role requires assessing learner characteristics, creating effective learning environments, and demonstrating proficiency in technology use while evaluating the outcomes of staff education.

Requirements

  • Master's Degree in Nursing required.
  • Current license to practice as a Registered Professional Nurse in New York State required, plus specialized certifications as needed.
  • 4-7 years of technical experience required.
  • 0-2 years of leadership/management experience required.

Nice To Haves

  • Current Diabetes Educator Certification preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Assess learner characteristics including learning styles and needs for program development.
  • Create an effective learning environment and demonstrate proficiency in technology use.
  • Evaluate the outcomes of staff education.
  • Function as both teacher and facilitator, implementing various teaching strategies tailored to learners' characteristics and needs.
  • Plan nursing professional development programs that are culturally relevant and incorporate concepts of multicultural and multigenerational education.
  • Apply nursing and learning theoretical foundations to develop nursing professional development programs.
  • Maintain a visible clinical presence and adhere to regulatory standards.
  • Advocate for nursing professional development programs that support learner and organizational needs.
  • Anticipate and forecast trends in nursing education.
  • Demonstrate sensitivity to ethical, cultural, and spiritual inclusion in education.
  • Engage in ethical decision-making and facilitate group processes effectively.
  • Follow regulatory requirements for health reporting.
  • Function as a change agent and leader, implementing motivational strategies at various levels.
  • Maintain confidentiality of sensitive information and use outcome measurements for evaluation.
  • Promote problem solving and interpret research in practice.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of the research process and model evidence-based practice application.
  • Use organizational strategic plans to determine educational priorities and develop financial plans for resource allocation.
  • Plan and implement innovative programs and projects, including evaluation plans and budgets.
  • Accept personal responsibility for professional development and promote participation in professional organizations.
  • Demonstrate effective oral and written communication and foster critical thinking.
