About The Position

The Baker Center for Children and Families (also known as Judge Baker Children's Center), promotes the best possible mental health of children and families through the integration of research, intervention, training, and policy. The clinical postdoctoral fellow will carry a caseload of up to 8 students enrolled in the Manville School. The fellow will serve as their student’s clinician and case manager, which will include the delivery of therapeutic services (individual, small group, or push-in), consultation with classroom teams, family therapy/parent training (as applicable), and collaboration with both internal and external support services and providers. The fellow will also work with classroom teams to deliver a social-emotional learning curriculum that draws from evidence-based practices. As case manager, the fellow will lead any interdisciplinary team meetings, service-planning meetings, or caregiver-teacher conferences for the student. As part of the fellow’s role as a psychologist at Manville, training will also include the assessment and evaluation of students requiring 3-year re-evaluations to determine continued eligibility for special education services. Assessments are comprehensive and include psychological evaluation and diagnostic impressions. There will also be opportunities to complete evaluations as part of Manville’s new Assessment, Consultation and Evaluation (ACE) classroom, which is designed for students needing 40 or 45 day assessments. The postdoctoral fellow will receive training and supervision in evidence-based interventions for children and adolescents, including potential certification in the Modular Approach to Therapy for Children (MATCH). Applicants will also receive supervision to meet Massachusetts psychology licensure requirements during the fellowship year. Appointment as a fellow at Harvard Medical School is available for the qualified successful applicant.

Requirements

  • Completion of a PhD/PsyD/EdD (or foreign equivalent) in Clinical, Counseling, or School Psychology from an accredited academic program
  • Completion of an APA- or CPA-approved internship.
  • Clinical training and experience with evidence-based practices and interventions.
  • Clinical training and experience with comprehensive evaluations and report writing
  • A commitment to culturally responsive care

Nice To Haves

  • Experience supervising or training clinicians in evidence-based practices
  • Clinical training and experience with risk assessment and crisis management
  • Clinical training and experience in school settings or in higher levels of care
  • Excellent interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills (verbal and written)

Responsibilities

  • Maintaining a diverse caseload of approximately 8 students, providing weekly therapeutic services
  • Implementing a social emotional curriculum weekly within an assigned classroom
  • Conducting diagnostic and psychoeducational assessments
  • Providing consultation and crisis intervention as needed
  • Coordinating care with families, community-based providers, government agencies and other collaterals as appropriate
  • Leading interdisciplinary team meetings and attending all IEP meetings for your caseload
  • Co-supervising graduate level trainees
