About The Position

The Clinical Placement Coordinator for Nursing at LaGuardia Community College is responsible for coordinating student placements in clinical facilities, ensuring compliance with health regulations, and maintaining communication between students, faculty, and healthcare providers. This role serves as a vital link between the college and clinical sites, facilitating the necessary arrangements for nursing students to gain practical experience in various healthcare settings.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree required.
  • Experience working in a customer service, higher education, or healthcare environment is preferred.
  • Experience with software such as Microsoft Excel, Google Sheets, V-Placement, InPlace, etc. is preferred.
  • Knowledge of basic hospital/clinic systems and medical terminology is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the liaison between LaGuardia Community College and clinical facilities to coordinate student placements.
  • Monitor contracts and submit requisite paperwork to clinical facilities for students participating in clinical rotations.
  • Schedule faculty and students for mandatory hospital orientations and maintain compliance with hospital requirements.
  • Collaborate with nurse educators and placement coordinators to develop clinical placements.
  • Coordinate the number of student placements needed each semester and type of experience required.
  • Identify facility requirements at each clinical placement location and communicate these to instructors and students.
  • Confirm placements with nurse educators and placement coordinators in healthcare facilities.
  • Communicate confirmed or changed clinical placement agreements with relevant parties.
  • Attend Placement Coordinators meetings at healthcare facilities throughout the NYC Metro area.
  • Ensure that students' health records are uploaded into the Certified Profile System and sent to clinical placement facilities.
