The Clinical Physician in Maternal Child Health provides direct patient care and plays a key role in the education and supervision of family medicine residents within the Unity Health Care system. This part-time position supports both inpatient and outpatient services at the Parkside location, as well as affiliated hospital settings. The physician will deliver comprehensive maternal and child healthcare, including prenatal, delivery, postnatal, and pediatric services, while contributing to residency training, curriculum development, and program administration. This role also includes involvement in public health initiatives, program management, and advocacy to improve maternal and child health outcomes.

Requirements

  • Medical Degree and Licensure: A medical doctorate (MD or DO) and active medical license are fundamental.
  • Specialized Training: Residency training in a relevant field like pediatrics, obstetrics/gynecology, or family medicine.
  • Public Health Expertise: A master's degree in public health (MPH) or a related field is often required or preferred.
  • Applicant must possess a degree in medicine from an accredited college or university and have five years of experience as a licensed physician working in the field of public health.
  • Three years’ experience with maternal/reproductive, child and infant populations.
  • Experience in maternal/reproductive, child, and infant populations is essential.
  • Strong Communication: Excellent interpersonal and communication skills are needed to interact effectively with families and staff.

Responsibilities

  • Provide direct clinical care, including prenatal, delivery, postnatal, and pediatric services
  • Supervise and teach residents and medical students in both inpatient and outpatient settings
  • Deliver didactic lectures and facilitate procedural training in obstetrics and pediatrics
  • Participate in residency program development, evaluation, and curriculum design
  • Manage maternal and child health programs, including data analysis and quality improvement initiatives
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and community partners to support patient care and health equity
  • Provide patient and family education on health maintenance, disease prevention, and treatment plans
