About The Position

We are growing! To best meet our patients where they are at, we are looking to expand our team of Advanced Practice Practitioners in our Urgent Injury Clinic. You will be responsible for delivering the highest quality of orthopaedic care using independent judgement to consult, evaluate and diagnose patients with orthopedic pain and injuries. This is a full-time position supporting our Urgent Injury Clinics, we currently have 3 clinics in the Des Moines Metro and expanding to add an additional clinic in Norwalk Summer 2026. All clinics are open Monday - Friday and a half day on Saturday. Please visit the DMOS Careers page for a direct link to apply. Hours of operation for our current clinics are as following: Ankeny: 7AM-3PM Monday - Friday; 8AM-12PM Saturday Urbandale: 7:30AM-3:30PM Monday - Friday; 8AM-12PM Saturday West Des Moines: 10AM-6PM Monday - Thursday; 10AM-5PM Friday; 8AM-12PM Saturday Here’s What You Can Expect A fast-paced, specialized environment. You’ll see patients on a walk-in basis with orthopaedic injuries and/or acute orthopaedic concerns. You will work together to assess and treat patients. You will participate in assessment, referral, education, and patient administration. You will act as the patient's kind guide during their intake asking questions to diagnose then explaining the next steps in a clear way for treatment of their orthopaedic injury or condition. Being on your feet all day, sometimes assisting in transporting, positioning, or holding patients when necessary.

Requirements

  • A Master’s Degree from an accredited Advanced Practice Practitioner (PA or NP) program
  • License to practice in the state of Iowa
  • Ability to communicate calmly and provide reassurance when patients are nervous
  • You practice the art of listening, asking clarifying questions, and avoiding interrupting your patient

  • Prior experience working in an Orthopaedic setting or Urgent Care Setting
