The Clinical Pharmacy Technician position at Ft. Cavazos, TX involves a comprehensive range of pharmacy technician procedures. Responsibilities include pharmaceutical dispensing duties such as filling new outpatient prescriptions, refilling prescriptions, and entering orders into databases. The technician will also support patient and physician requests, monitor for drug interactions, and report adverse drug reactions. Quality improvement duties include drug storage inspections, reviewing expired supplies, and producing error and workload reports. The role requires a working knowledge of pharmaceutical terminology, common drugs, medication dosage forms, and the operation of pharmacy equipment. The technician will assist pharmacists in selecting and preparing medications, maintain necessary prescription files, and ensure compliance with applicable regulations. Direct patient care involves contacting patients for medical record reviews and managing clinical pharmacist appointment schedules. Indirect patient care includes assisting in data collection for pharmacy committees and preparing educational materials. The technician will also participate in population health initiatives and support various clinical pharmacy clinics.

  • Perform a full range of pharmacy technician procedures including dispensing and entering orders.
  • Support patient and physician requests, monitor for drug interactions, and report adverse drug reactions.
  • Conduct quality improvement duties such as drug storage inspections and producing error reports.
  • Maintain familiarity with therapeutic formulary and dispensing policies.
  • Provide drug information to healthcare professionals and patients.
  • Assume additional administrative or clinical duties as needed.
  • Contact patients for medical record reviews and manage clinical pharmacist appointment schedules.
  • Assist in data collection for pharmacy committees and prepare educational materials.
  • Participate in population health initiatives to improve patient safety.
  • Support various clinical pharmacy clinics and manage clinical pharmacy consults.
  • Graduate from a formal pharmacy technician program accredited by ASHP or a formal medical services training program of the U.S. Military.
  • Minimum of three (3) years experience within the last 5 years as a Pharmacy Technician.
  • Certified by the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB).
