About The Position

The Clinical Pharmacy Specialist evaluates and recommends appropriate medication therapy to attain appropriate and efficient patient outcomes by collaborating directly with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare providers. This role leads the development, supply, and evaluation of overall pharmaceutical care and quality assurance programs. The specialist serves as a drug expert resource to pharmacy and other hospital colleagues, assesses patient's health conditions, and evaluates medication profiles for optimal patient outcomes. Responsibilities also include monitoring therapy and goals of care, documenting as appropriate, and participating in professional development activities and drug cost reduction programs.

Requirements

  • Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) graduate of a College of Pharmacy accredited by the American Council on Pharmaceutical Education (ACPE)
  • Missouri pharmacist licensure with Medication Therapy Services (MTS) certificate or ability to obtain
  • BPS Certification in applicable specialty required within 1 year, unless prior completion of ASHP-accredited residency program
  • Current BLS & ACLS certification or ability to obtain
  • Completion of ASHP-accredited residency, or at least 3 years equivalent experience in hospital clinical pharmacy role

  • Completion of ASHP-accredited PGY1 residency

Responsibilities

  • Evaluates and recommends appropriate medication therapy to attain appropriate and efficient patient outcomes by collaborating directly with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare providers
  • Leads the way in the development, supply, and evaluation of overall pharmaceutical care along with quality assurance programs
  • Serves as a resource to pharmacy colleagues and other hospital colleagues as a drug expert
  • Assesses patient's health conditions and evaluates medication profile for optimal patient outcomes
  • Monitors therapy and goals of care while documenting where appropriate
  • Participates in professional development activities
  • Participates in drug cost reduction programs
